Parents & Carers
Our school values the relationships it holds with children and their families in order to secure the best outcomes for children at each stage in their primary learning journey. We pride ourselves on our commitment to communication and inclusion for all and value the contributions made by our children’s parents and carers. We truly believe that a strong and effective home-school relationship acts in the best interests of every individual child/family.
We seek to involve parents and carers in their children’s learning and education by sharing information about the curriculum that they are participating in. As part of the curriculum philosophy, parents and carers are invited to help celebrate a new topic by preparing for Big Bang Days, sharing a curriculum overview which sets out a term’s learning and, ending in a celebration of learning whereby parents and carers are invited into the school for a Family Learning experience.
We also support parents and carers through the expertise of our Community Liaison Officer (CLO) who can provide support around a wide range of matters such as; attendance and punctuality, access to specialist intervention parenting groups (Mental Health in Schools as an example) as well as supporting them in completing school forms, referral forms for specialist support and applications for EHCPs.
In addition, we seek to provide families with opportunities to understand key aspects of their child/ren’s educational journey through parent workshops, such as; SATs preparation, Phonics Screening Check preparation, supporting their child with Reading. We encourage parents and carers to tell us what support that they feel they need and aim to provide information, whether through our newsletter, curriculum overviews or workshops. Furthermore, parent consultation evenings provide an opportunity for parents and carers to learn more about their child/ren’s social/emotional and learning progress throughout the academic year.
